Family OCIA

Family OCIA

Family OCIA is for those families who have unbaptized Children over the age of 7

Family OCIA is a journey of faith designed for families who desire to grow together in their relationship with Christ and the Church. It offers a welcoming and supportive environment where parents and children learn side by side about the teachings of the Catholic faith, explore Scripture, and deepen their prayer life as a family.

A key element of Family OCIA is active parent involvement. Parents are not only participants but also primary teachers of the faith, accompanying their children through each step of the journey. Through guided sessions, shared discussions, and at-home activities, parents are equipped and encouraged to lead, model, and nurture faith within their own households.

Classes meet on Thursday evenings, providing a consistent and accessible time for families to gather, learn, and grow together in faith. Throughout the year, formation also includes participation in various rites and liturgical celebrations, helping families more fully experience the rhythm and richness of the Church’s life.

Through this process, children prepare to receive all three Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist—celebrated at the Easter Vigil, marking their full welcome into the life of the Church.

Through these shared experiences, Family OCIA helps families encounter Christ in meaningful ways while building a sense of community with others on the same path. Whether preparing for the sacraments or simply seeking to grow in faith, this process honors the unique role of the family as the “domestic church,” where faith is lived, strengthened, and passed on together.
