Adults & Teens Baptized Catholic, But Desiring Eucharist and/or Confirmation
Any adult or high school youth baptized Catholic, who has not yet received his/her First Communion and/or Confirmation, may receive these sacraments through the RCIA.
Because they have not been "catechized" for over a period of 6 to 8 years, they can expect to spend about a year in the RCIA. During this time they will go through a series of Rites as their minds, hearts and lives are conformed more and more to Jesus Christ.
Adults can begin in RCIA at any time of year. Their Sacraments can be received during the Easter Season, or whenever they are "ready."
Teens in the RCIA usually start the first Thursday in September. They attend the sessions along with their parents.
All RCIA Sessions are weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm to about 8:45 pm.
Each session begins in the Church, and then moves to other rooms. Teens have their own special group within the RCIA, but also spend one session a month with their parents. The teens usually receive their sacraments during the Easter Season. After receiving the sacraments, the adults & teens continue in RCIA for another 50 days, as they reflect on what has happened through the sacraments.
