Immersed in Christ. One Body. One Mission.

Music Ministry

Every Mass is a beautiful celebration of our faith!

As we strive to focus more deeply on the gift of the Eucharist, we can find joy and happiness in engaging more actively in each wonderful celebration of the Mass.  Music is a special way to do this!   There are so many ways to be involved in music at Mass. Some of them require extra preparation time each week. These include singing in one of our choirs, serving as a cantor, singing for a special event, providing musical accompaniment and so much more.

If you would like to join any of the groups, please DON’T BE SHY!   Check out the list of choirs and other opportunities below!  Even if you have very limited time, remember that there are Special Events which require musicians. For example, the Saint Martin de Porres Mass for our cohort will be here at Saint Monica this year on November 3 at 6pm. Look for your chance to help with this multicultural, multilingual Mass!

Music is for all and by all at Saint Monica, whether you raise your voice and heart from the pew or join one of our ensembles, your participation in the music of our parish is a blessing. Thank you for your enthusiasm each week!

May music be your Labor of Love!

Yours,  Amy Eggleston, Music Director

Adult Choir & the Sonrise Group

St. Monica’s choir is a blend of enthusiastic and industrious voices with one common commitment to assist the worshiping assembly in song. We warmly welcome all parishioners who are able to lend their voices to our choir. No audition is needed.

  • Practice: weekly, Wednesdays, 7 pm

  • Mass: Sunday mass, 10 am and special Feast Days

The Sonrise group is a small contemporary group that also plays at the 10:00 am when scheduled.

Canto Nuevo & La Alegría en el Espíritu: St. Monica Music in Spanish

Los dos grupos de música sirven en la Misa de domingo a las 12:30 pm.  Canto Nuevo también sirve en la Misa de 3:00 pm los domingos.

Children's Choir (Grades 3 - 8)

Our children's choir is open to all students in grades 3 - 8. No audition is needed.  Practice is weekly on Mondays, 5:15 - 6:15 pm.

El Coro de Niños es para todos los estudiantes de grado 3 a 8.  Nadie necesita hacer una audición.  Las prácticas para este coro son cada lunes de 5:15-6:15 pm.

Instrumentalists

Instrumentalists are encouraged to assist at mass as well! If you play an instrument, there is a way for you to work with one of our choirs! It would also be lovely if we could form an adult string quartet and/or other ensembles.

Christmas Youth Orchestra

In November, we’ll begin rehearsals for our Christmas Youth Orchestra!

If you participate in orchestra at school, come share your talent with the church! Brass, strings, woodwinds: Middle School and up!

Special Event: St. Martin de Porres, Mass on November 3 at 6:00 pm

Volunteer to lend your talent for this multicultural, multilingual Mass!

Involúcrese para ayudar es esta Misas especial, ¡una Misa de muchas culturas y lenguas!

Cantors

Being a cantor is one of the more visible roles in the music ministry. It requires both a strong, good voice and the ability to read music. The cantor’s role is to lead the worshiping assembly during the liturgy and to proclaim the Word in music, especially through the Psalms.
