Peace and Blessings, Friends and Parishioners,

We encourage you to reflect on Thursday's readings at this link: http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/110719.cfm

If you prefer to use your own Bible, the readings are:
First Reading: Romans 14:7-12
Responsorial: Psalm 27:1, 4, 13-14
Gospel: Luke 15: 1-10

Our reflection on Thursday’s readings:
Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep. (Luke 15:6)

The readings today are so rich with images and story.  Jesus was a master storyteller.  He knew the right words to say and through these words he shifted, and continues to shift, the way we view the world and how we view our relationship with God.

I find myself drawn to the story of the man searching for his lost sheep.  I am so drawn to it that, in my contemplation, I actually entered into the story.  I imagined me working for the man on his sheep farm.  I noticed that he was worried about his lost sheep and was going to set out to look for it.  As he was getting ready to go, I asked if I could go with him.  He said yes.  We searched high and low and along the way I was able to see this man in a different light.  He told me all about this lost sheep and how he raised it since it was a lamb.  He knew the full story of this sheep and the stories of the other 99 left on the farm with the other workers.

I was so moved by his love for his sheep that when he finally found the sheep that strayed away, I too rejoiced in his love and in the celebration.  I found myself loving the sheep just as the man did.

By entering into the story, I realized that this radical love of Jesus is a love I am worthy of receiving.  A love that when I am fully open to receiving, will help me love others in a new way, a Christ-like way. I also realized that He is looking for me.  Lost in my distractions.  Lost in my misplaced priorities.  Lost in my service to others (yes, we can get lost in this as well).  Jesus today is looking for me and I am looking for Him.  What a celebration it will be when we find each other.

May you go in search for lost sheep with Jesus. It will transform your way of loving others,
