Daily Reflection for Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022

Peace and Blessings, Friends and Parishioners,

We encourage you to reflect on the readings for Thanksgiving Day at this link:
https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/112422-thanksgiving.cfm

If you prefer to use your own Bible, the readings are:
First Reading: Sirach 50:22-24
Responsorial: Psalm 145:2-11
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:3-9
Gospel: Luke 17:11-19

We wish you every blessing on this Thanksgiving Day! Like most of you, our reflection team is taking the day off to remember and give thanks for God’s abundant blessings to us, our families, and our nation. We offer you a Thanksgiving prayer thanking God for the simple, everyday-but-important-things in life.  We first discovered it on the wonderful Ignatian blog hosted by Fr. John Predmore, S.J.

Prayer: "In Everything, Give Thanks" by Unknown
For all that God in mercy sends -
For health and children, home and friends;
For comfort in the time of need,
For every kindly word and deed,
For happy talks and holy thoughts;
For guidance in our daily walk -
In everything give thanks!

For beauty in this world of ours,
For verdant grass and lovely flowers,
For song of birds, for horn of bees,
For the refreshing summer breeze,
For hill and plain, for streams and wood,
For the great ocean's mighty flood -
In everything give thanks!

For the sweet sleep which comes with night,
For the returning morning's light,
For the bright sun that shines on high,
For the stars glittering in the sky -
For these and everything we see,
O Lord our hearts we lift to thee;
In everything give thanks!

We wish you God’s abundant blessings on this Thanksgiving Day and always!
