Our reflection for Tuesdays readings:
“And I am made glorious in the sight of the LORD, and my God is now my strength! “
Isaiah 49:5
Many years ago I took the Enneagram. But I forgot my type. So this past year I retook the survey and rediscovered my type. I also have read several books and online sources to help me understand not only the Enneagram, but my type. I am a 6; The Loyalist. (actually it was a three way tie between 6, 9 & 1) If you would like to learn more about the Enneagram and maybe find your type, here is a link to the Enneagram Institute
The Enneagram has been a great tool for me to better understand who I am and why I am, especially being in relationship with others. In the beginning, I learned about all of the positive aspects of my type. Which was helpful and uplifting. But as I dug deeper into my type, I learned all of the not so positive aspects of my type. Which was humbling and unsettling. I found myself not wanting to read anymore because it was so unsettling and unpleasant.
What I have learned about the Enneagram is that it isn’t supposed to be a tool to degrade and humiliate us. It is a tool to help us discover who we are. Even if what we discover is not so easy to digest. This is who I am. This is who God made me to be. As long as I can build on the positive aspects and learn from the not so positive ones. And either way, I am made glorious and God is my strength!
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Tim Bush
