Daily Reflection for Thursday, June 02, 2022

Peace and Blessings, Friends and Parishioners,

We encourage you to reflect on Thursday's readings at this link:
https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/060222.cfm

If you prefer to use your own Bible, the readings are:
First Reading: Acts of the Apostles: 22:30; 23:6-11
Responsorial: Psalm 16:1-2a and 5, 7-8, 9-10, 11
Gospel: John 17:20-26

Our reflection on Thursday’s readings:
I made known to them your name and I will make it known, that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in them.    John 17:26

I live in an area filled with many trees.  Oak, tulip, beech, and evergreen trees are plentiful.  At this time the leaves of the deciduous trees fill the landscape with every shade of green.  On a calm spring morning such as this one, the gentle wind dances with the branches and their movement greets me this morning.  Birds are chirping and the morning sunlight shimmers through the open spaces creating shadows and sunrays that catch my meditative spirit.

The words, I made known to them your name, stay with me after reading the Scripture passages today.  And in this quiet spring morning, the trees reveal to me God’s everlasting love and presence and bring the scripture readings alive.

Today, we are invited to listen as Jesus prays. Jesus is praying for us—for you and me.  It is a prayer that expresses Jesus’ great desire for us—to know and believe that God is with us and in us.  Jesus invites us to know His deepest desire for us.  It is through this sacred prayer that I sense and welcome this invitation.  God is present in the stillness of the morning, in the trees that greet me, and in the Spirit within me that recognizes God’s presence in it all.

May you see and know God’s presence within you and around you today,
