Daily Reflection for Thursday, July 16, 2020
Peace and Blessings, Friends and Parishioners,
We encourage you to reflect on Thursday's readings at this link: http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/071620.cfm
If you prefer to use your own Bible, the readings are:
First Reading: Isaiah 26:7-9, 12, 16-19
Responsorial: Psalm 102:13-21
Gospel: Matthew 11:28-30
Our reflection on Thursday’s readings:
Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
Today the readings give me hope. We receive a great invitation to rest and trust. As I read this passage, come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest, I think of so many that have been laboring in service of others and I hope they hear the invitation to rest in God’s love. And just in case they missed the invitation in the reading, I will help God a little today in spreading the invitation.
All those working in the hospitals and COVID-19 testing sites, God invites you to rest in God’s love.
All those caregivers, caring for the sick in their homes or in the home of others, God invites you to rest in God’s love.
All those raising truth to power as they work to dismantle racism, God invites you to rest in God’s love.
All those teachers, getting ready for a school year and showing up in radically different ways, God invites you to rest in God’s love.
All those who labor in the fields harvesting food to put on our tables, God invites you to rest in God’s love.
All those ministers, religious brothers and sisters, clergy, and lay leaders providing spiritual guidance to communities, God invites you to rest in God’s love.
All those parents, supporting their children in understanding this pandemic time, God invites you to rest in in God’s love.
All those who are reading these reflections, may you know that God invites you today.
May you rest in God’s love today.
