Our reflection on Thursday’s readings:
Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace forever. Psalm 72
As I pray the Psalm today, I lean into two words: justice and peace. In prayer, I realized the deep relationship between the two concepts. I am growing a better understanding that justice is about being in right relationship. It is grounded in goodness, dignity, respect, equity and love. Justice prevails when right relationship exists and peace is the outcome of this.
In this Advent time, I ready myself for the birth of divine love and the source of all justice and peace. It is a time of preparation to reflect and to participate in a right relationship inventory. A time to be honest with myself and recognize the work I need to do to be in right relationship with others, with creation, and with God. It is a time to be still so that internal reflection is possible.
The Psalm is calling me to be in right relationship in order for justice to prevail. This Advent season reveals that the only way this is possible is through God’s grace and mercy. As I wait for the word made flesh, the Christ child, and the Incarnation, I do so with hope for justice and peace. I pray the Psalm today with the assurance that when justice prevails, peace will be its reward.

Florecerá en sus días la justiciar y reinará la paz, era tras era. Salmo 72
Al rezar el Salmo hoy, me concentro en dos palabras; justicia y paz. En oración, comprendí la profunda relación entre los dos conceptos. Estoy creciendo un mejor entendimiento de que la justicia es sobre estar en una relación correcta con los demás y con toda la creación. Está fundada en la bondad, la dignidad, el respeto, la equidad y el amor. La justicia prevalece cuando existe una relación correcta y la paz es el resultado de esto.
En esta época de Adviento, me preparo para el nacimiento del amor divino y la fuente de toda justicia y paz. Es un momento de preparación para reflexionar y participar en un inventario personal de relaciones correctas. Un tiempo para ser honesto conmigo mismo y reconocer el trabajo que necesito hacer para estar en buena relación con los demás, con la creación y con Dios. Es un momento para estar quieto para que la reflexión interna sea posible.
El Salmo me llama a estar en una relación correcta con otros y con toda la creación para que prevalezca la justicia. Este tiempo de Adviento revela que la única manera de hacerlo es por medio de la gracia y la misericordia de Dios. Mientras espero la palabra hecha carne, el niño Jesús, y la encarnación, lo hago con esperanza de justicia y paz. Hoy oro el Salmo con la seguridad de que cuando prevalezca la justicia la paz será su recompensa.
Que trabajen por la justicia para que la paz sea posible,
