Peace and Blessings, Friends and Parishioners,
We encourage you to reflect on Wednesday’s readings at this link:
http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/041322.cfm
If you prefer to use your own Bible, the readings are:
First Reading: Is 50: 4-9
Responsorial: Psalms 69:8-10, 21-22, 31 and 33-34
Gospel: Matthew 26: 14-25
Our reflection on Wednesday’s readings:
“Morning after morning, he opens my ear that I may hear.” Isaiah 50:4
Isaiah’s words in today’s reading are reflective of the time of the Babylonian exile, when the Israelites were being led away from the destruction of Jerusalem to an unknown world. For those who know me, I thrive on a path of predictability. I either need to be in control of what’s going to happen or be a part of making decisions that impact my life. I know for certain I would not function well if I were leaving my home, not knowing how long the journey would last or where I would end up!
Imagine if I could wake up each morning knowing that God will take care of me…
That I will actively choose to use words to heal and comfort and console others…
That I will trust God to show me the direction to take in all areas of my life, not just the ones I give Him access to…
That I can put aside my own desires and temptations and obey God, trusting that He knows what is best for me…
That God will enable me to listen to those who need me and to hear His words to me, with no distractions…
That I will recognize in full the gifts that God has given me and I will use them for His benefit to serve others…
That I will readily forgive anyone who hurts or threatens me…
That I will show others through my words and actions that I follow Christ and be proud of doing so at all times.
How great would it be if we follow a life of discipleship!
Encourage one another and build each other up,
Lisa Thibault
