Ruth Iliff

In my 70s, I have passed professional responsibilities, focusing more on being than doing. In my Retirement Community, I see every day a panorama of strength, memories, faith, and values systems.

I work half time at a branch of the public library, do a friend’s laundry, host visitors to our community. I look out for neighbors I meet in the hallways: usually with hugs.

The reflections fit into my daily prayer life. Early each month I print out the Scripture that my assignments call me to. I walk around in it for several readings over a few days. I circle the lines that jump off the page at me. Eventually, I sit at the keyboard and let my heart talk back to the Holy Spirit, who nudges and pokes and speaks to me. And then I send it off to those who will send it to you.
