Indiana State Parks The great outdoors offers a great way to RE-CONNECT with family, self, and God. Here is a link to Indiana State Parks. This link contains information on purchasing park passes, camping and state parks with Inns, and child friendly activities.
There are many programs you can get involved with at DNR properties. Most are covered by your park entry fee although others may have an additional fee. Here is the 2011-2012 calendar of events: Indiana State Parks Special Events.
Along with Indiana’s wonderful state parks, Indianapolis has 207 regional, community, and neighborhood parks! The largest park in Indy and one of the largest municipal parks in the United States lies just up West 56th, Eagle Creek Park. Eagle Creek has 1400 acres of reservoir and 3900 acres of land. With 10 miles of trails, fitness courses, orienteering, cross-country skiing paths, pontoon and canoe trips, swim beach, and a pistol/archery range–just to name a few of the activities–you would be hard pressed to be bored at Eagle Creek! MONON TRAIL: 20 mile path was built along the right-of-way of the former Monon Railroad, and has become a treasured destination for runners, walkers, bicyclists, inline skaters, and dog-walkers from 146th Street in Carmel to 10th Street downtown.
THE CANAL & WHITE RIVER STATE PARK: 250 acre urban playground that features pedestrian walkways, green space, and several main attractions, including the Indianapolis Zoo & several museums. Tour canal via gondola or Segway.
