Rite of Christian Initiation, Adults (RCIA) and Inquiry

RCIA stands for “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.”  RCIA is for adults who want to consider following a Catholic way of life for the first time.

The RCIA is based on a series of Rites — ritual prayers that take place within the context of the Sunday Mass.  This series of Rites marks the progress of each person as they move into a Catholic way of life. Persons who have never been baptized, persons who are not actively practicing their faith in any church community, as well as persons from other religious traditions (Christian or non-Christian) all find their way into the Catholic Church through some form of the RCIA:  but, the duration and form of the RCIA will depend on the needs and experience of each person who inquires.

For more information about getting started in the RCIA — or on how you could serve as an RCIA Team member/RCIA sponsor – contact Anne Corcoran, Pastoral Associate of Adult Faith Formation at 253-2193×5 or at acorcoran@stmonicaindy.org.

OR, for Spanish RCIA, contact Sr. Anna Marie Megel, Pastoral Associate of Hispanic Ministry, at 253-2193×9 or amegel@stmonicaindy.org.
