Scholarship Program
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR OUR SISTERS AND BROTHERS IN LEPATERIQUE.
Our sister parish, led by Fathers Mario, Oswaldo and Cristobal, and now Padre Miguel has taken a very active role in promoting education within the Lepaterique community. They recognize individual achievement of students, promote youth group activities and, with the limited resources they have, provide scholarships to needy and deserving families. The priests are very clear with the scholarship recipients and their parents – if you do not perform well while on scholarship, you will lose the privilege of receiving future grants. The families take this very seriously.
As of this report, through donations provided by St. Monica last year, Fr. Miguel has been able to provide scholarships to over 700 students. The communities are grateful for our support as this is addressing the real problem that exists continuing education after primary school.
There are very few ways that we, as brothers and sisters of this community, can change their lives. However, providing education to the children is definitely the most tangible and substantial way to improve their prospects for self-sustained success.
