Sister Parish

Solidarity

Building a relationship through prayer within the Eucharist.

Our sister parish St. James the Apostle is located in Lepaterique Honduras a mountanous area about 30 miles outside of the capital city of Tegucigalpa. The parish encompasses an area roughly one half size of Marion County with a population of over 16,000.

There are  46 small communities in the parish many only accessible by foot or horseback during the dry season. The pastor may only get to some of these communities two or three times a year.

Over 50 parishioners have visited Lepaterique from St. Monica since this relationship began in October 2003. Each one has a wonderful story to tell about the love, faith, and spirit of our brothers and sisters in Lepaterique.

This relationship continues through prayer, visits, and financial assistance through a Free Will Offering on the third Sunday of each month.
