Social Ministry

The purpose of the St. Monica Social Ministry Committee is to bring justice to our parish, city, and world by being formed as a community of faith, relying on prayer, the Gospel and Catholic Social Teaching. We help to bridge the gap between the phyically poor and the spiritually poor. WE recognize that, we as members, are in spiritual poverty striving to serve Christ. We invite every member of St. Monica into our purpose.

Its members develop bonds with other churches in the area, and enables parishioners to serve Christ by providing information to other committees/commissions of outreach opportunities. Contact: Stefanie Anderson, 506-9668 or stefmanderson@hotmail.com

Have you ever donated to our sister parish on a third Sunday or prayed with our sister parish? A 20+ team of parishioners just got back from our sister parish in LePaterique, Honduras. Come hear of their adventures and how they strengthen the bond between the streets of Indianapolis and the mountains and rivers of LePaterique. We want to share with you how your generous donations heal the sick, provide clean drinking water, and repair homes and churches. A date will be set soon for this event!

Also, come watch The Visitor and explore our Church’s reaction and teachings to illegal immigration on Sunday, Sept. 11 after the 6 p.m. Mass. Snacks and lively conversation guaranteed.

Have you every wondered what drives the Church’s teachings on family, charity, and life issues? Fr. Todd will help us better understand human dignity within the context of the Catholic Church and our participation in it as members of this Church and as humans. Meet us on Tuesday, Sept. 13 in the St. Augustine Room at 7 p.m.
